Summer is rapidly drawing to a close and I have not yet shared photos of all the family fun we’ve had on Cape Cod. This week seems like a good time to do just that — each day I’ll share images of how my family spent our time off at the Cape. Today’s theme: Activities.
One afternoon I went kayaking with my mom at Seymour Pond in Brewster.
Another afternoon my dad and I biked along the Cape Cod bike path — I love how safe and easy it is to ride here. I went back the following weekend and rode all the way from downtown Harwichport to Chatham Fish Pier.
We rode past the Chatham airport and watched a small plane take off.
We love to walk on Monomoy Island right near Chatham — it’s one of the few beaches on the Cape that allows dogs. We visited this spot twice this summer. If you go here, remember to check the tide schedule as during high tide water covers the shore.
On our second visit we brought the pups — Bijou the bichon and Oscar, my sister’s adorable new dog.
I’ve never seen starfish on Cape Cod before! So neat to spot these guys.
Okay, now I’m letting you in on a secret — this is Sand Pond, our new favorite spot on the Cape. It’s a gorgeous beach with lots of parking, and it’s never too crowded. So let’s keep this between us, okay?
I think we came here every Saturday and Sunday for three consecutive weekends. We would float on our noodles and lounge in the water; sometimes playing Marco Polo or swimming across to the docks on the other side. It’s supremely relaxing.
One afternoon I brought my GoPro along and set it to take a photo every second. It snapped several hundred pics over five minutes, but since we weren’t intentionally posing, it captured spontaneous moments of us goofing off. These are really precious to me because they document the silly spirit of our Sand Pond afternoons. It was my first time using that GoPro setting and it paid off. There’s no commentary on these; just scroll through.
My aunt and uncle frequent this spot too; it’s fun to run into them here.
And that recaps our Cape Cod activities this past summer — mostly beach time (walking or swimming) with a few other sports thrown in to spice things up.
Oh my gosh, there are so many crazy photos of my face on here! I approve.
Haha… so glad you approve. I was hoping not to get an email from anyone in our immediate family requesting I take down photos! Flattering pics (albeit silly) of all of us!
