Remember that time I watched our tour group surf sand dunes in Cape Reigna, New Zealand and I didn’t participate because I was nervous about hurting my feet?
This time we’re instructed to SIT on the boards instead of lie down on them, so the risk of foot injury is reduced. I grab ahold of this second change to surf the dunes at Little Sahara (“H” on the map below) and give it a go.
But first, we are greeted by another rainbow. Kangaroo Island sure knows how to deliver colored light prisms ’round these parts.
Our group climbs atop the dune and prepares to surf.
Doesn’t it look way less harmless to go downhill feet first, compared to head first in New Zealand? Unfortunately I don’t have photographic evidence that I gave it a go, so you’ll have to trust me that it happened. Then I spend the rest of my time shooting images of everyone else playing on the picturesque dunes.
Our intrepid guide Luke attempts to literally surf the dunes:
Hope you’ve enjoyed this collage of images from our time on the dunes. It’s such a pretty spot for photos and I couldn’t stop pressing the shutter for most of the hour we spent here.
