Today I spend my time checking out a few more pockets of Melbourne. I hop on the trolley to visit St. Kilda, a beachside community just south of the city.
St. Kilda is home to Luna Park, an amusement park that also happens to be the name of my favorite LA restaurant. (There is also a Luna Park in Sydney so I’m not sure which one the LA restaurant is named after.)
The park is under construction but I poke my head around and take photos.
I wander towards the St. Kilda pier.
A view looking back towards the city on this cloudy day. Not a prime time to visit the beach but it’s pleasant to stroll around.
And I walk through a well-maintained park right near the waterfront.
This fleet of Domino’s delivery scooters gives me a chuckle.
Later in the afternoon I swing by the fancy State Library of Victoria located in the heart of Melbourne. It is GORGEOUS here and I spend a few hours in a blissfully quiet cubicle editing photos and listening to my iPod. Not bad for a temporary office! And they have free WiFi.
On my walk back to the hostel I spy a nearly full moon.
And here’s the Royal Exhibition Building at night:
Hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s look at Melbourne! I have one more post coming on Monday and then we’ll move on to impressive Phillip Island. Have a great weekend!
omg, love the library (of course).
I knew you would!!
