I’ve spent the last 2+ weeks sharing photos from three tours I did with Groovy Grape Getaways in South Australia — 3 Day Great Ocean Road & Grampians, 1 Day Barossa Valley, and 2 Day Kangaroo Island. Should you find yourself in this stunning part of the world, they are a fantastic company — and having just completed three months of travel within Australia, they rank very high among my favorite tour companies in this travel-friendly country. While they sponsored my travel in exchange for use of my photos on their website and brochures, they did not ask me to put this post together — I’m doing it because I had a great time and wanted to round up my favorite images from these trips in one place.
There are two key components I look for when selecting a tour company: group size and average age. Groovy Grape runs small group tours and caters to the backpacking crowd. I would guess the median age of our tour groups was 25; I appreciate that it’s not a gap year party tour and I could meet like-minded travelers whose priority is to experience the great sighs this remarkable part of Australia has to offer.
Here’s a shot of our Great Ocean Road & Grampians tour group (minus me, as I was behind the camera):
And now for the sights! You’ve already seen my in-depth posts on each location, so consider this the highlight reel. If you were on the fence about visiting South Australia, this should push you over.

Many thanks to Groovy Grape for hosting my trips! From the natural wonder of the Twelve Apostles & Remarkable Rocks to the new friends I met along the journey, it’s a week I will never forget.
