I have a handful of miscellaneous Tel Aviv shots to share with you, and I realized upon perusal that they are all vibrant with color.
Let’s begin with a virtual stroll along the beach — here’s the Dan Hotel, designed by Israeli artist Yaacov Agam:
While strolling the beach boardwalk I spy these (artificial) cherry trees.
The next batch of shots were captured on a late-afternoon beach walk that culminated in a spectacular sunset.
This gelato hits the spot…
I get the Maple Walnut flavor and one other. I’m drooling now just thinking about it.
Tel Aviv excels in creating unique public spaces. We marvel over this curvy boardwalk with giant ‘stones’ which act as benches.
Kids have a blast navigating the ups and downs of those curves — we nervously watch a little tyke careen down a wave with reckless abandon, no parents in sight.
Right from the onset, we can tell this will be one heck of a sunset.
That evening we grab dinner at Cafe Suzanna in Neve Tzedek, a revitalized and fashionable district of Tel Aviv.
They have a lovely outdoor seating area and the food is excellent. I order chicken over couscous and dried fruit.
For dinner we walk over to Anita’s, a popular gelato place… where we indulge for a second time that day.
Fun fact: Anita’s was so popular that they opened up a second location just across the street. That one is even open during Shabbat, the holy day when most places are closed.
The next morning we set out on another beautiful city walk, passing by Suzanna’s — the restaurant we ate at last night, just under that ficus tree.
Here are more images of Neve Tzedek — it’s a truly beautiful section of town with unique touches on every corner.
Check out those adorable figurines scaling the balcony:
Bold graffiti lines some alleyways…
… but has been covered up (“stolen”) in other areas:
We pass through HaTachana, the old train station, which is now a museum. There are also shops and restaurants.
And spend an afternoon at the impressive Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
This is SO COOL — they have a giant ‘monster’ named Lusitana on display, her tentacles dangling down the various levels of the museum, spilling into galleries below.
In the evening we meet up with my uncle’s hospitable friends and they treat us to a wonderful meal at Popina(currently ranked #22 on Trip Advisor out of nearly 1,000 restaurants in Tel Aviv).
A few other miscellaneous shots:
This Israeli ad for One Man, Two Guvnors — one of my favorite plays.
I grab coffee at NOLA American Bakery one morning and it’s delicious.
This colorful giraffe sits atop a motorcycle outside the yummy Italian place where we meet up for Thanksgiving dinner a few days later:
And that wraps up my favorite moments in Tel Aviv.
Up next: a very fun day trip up the coast to Caesarea, Haifa, and Acre!
