As the summer season kicks into high gear on Cape Cod, I realized I forgot to write about the last time I went out there with my family — back in March of this year. It was a rainy weekend but we had a nice time playing board games, enjoying delicious food, and going on a foggy beach walk.
Oh, and cuddling with the pups:
We drove out to Sandwich and walked the boardwalk to Town Neck Beach.
I’m sure it looks quite different now on a warm summer day.
Once we reached the beach, we ambled up to the Cape Cod Canal and then turned back.
Cape Cod Canal:
The home owners here work hard to retain the sand in front of their properties, as wind and weather erode it over time.
The boardwalk is warped from the wind, so it’s a little crooked in places:
Cuddling with Missy and Oscar back home:
My mom is the best cook — she whipped up this lemon rosemary salmon dish:
With roasted kale, baked potato, and red wine. Perfection.
Weather improved the next day and we went on a lovely walk in Chatham.
Fun fact: Harry Connick Jr. lives in one of the houses below.
Sort of a weird thing to inscribe on a plaque:
Looking over Stage Harbor in Chatham:
Always nice to visit the Cape with family, even in the winter months when the weather can be iffy. Just playing board games and chilling with the dogs is special. Looking forward to more visits this summer.
Always enjoy your photos of the Cape. Such a special place.
Thank you, Marie! I’m on the Cape this weekend and I’m sure it will be hectic / crowded — but I’m very glad to be here! Happy 4th!
Hi Erica, I’m at Lake Arrowhead and like the Cape it is full to the brim with tourists. We will have a wonderful Fireworks Spectacular tomorrow night. Enjoy your time with your family.
