It doesn’t take much to get my travel juices flowing. When I read accounts of other bloggers’ trips abroad, especially if they are accompanied by decent photos, I channel Liz Lemon and murmur repeatedly, “I want to go to there.”
That is exactly what happened when a blogger I follow, Liz at 125, chronicled her recent trip to Perth, Australia. Liz is a Canadian currently living in Melbourne. She makes the most of her time in Australia by exploring various parts of the continent and I am incredibly envious of all her experiences.
Now that I have Perth on the brain, I did a little Google Images digging. Here’s what I found.
Perth is WAY the heck on the other side of Australia, so not a convenient jaunt from popular cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, or Brisbane.

But when you’re greeted with views like this, it’s worth the extra effort to get there.

And that’s just the city proper. Wait until you see the beaches… as Liz points out, no visit to Perth is complete with out a trip to Rottnest Island (eleven miles off the coast and a 25 minute ferry ride from Perth).

It’s a kangaroo! On a beach! I am sold. Where do I sign up for a Perth getaway?
As if the city and beaches weren’t enough, there are several National Parks in Perth vying for your attention. First up: Serpentine National Park, home of Serpentine Falls.

Next is Nambung National Park, home of The Pinnacles.

These images only serve to whet my appetite for Perth and Western Australia. This area of the world is officially on my Bucket List.
My sister studied abroad in perth! Looks so pretty!
Well, it’s no 12th century castle (ha! see what I did there?), but what a cool place to study abroad! Where else did she get to explore during her time in Australia?
Aww, this certainly does bring back memories. Perth has so much to offer.. the city plus the real feel of “the outback”. I camped on Rottnest Island for a few days. And I saw the Pinnacles! They are even more beautiful in person, they go on for miles, words (and pictures for that matter) cant possibly describe. Kangaroos are a common sighting on the beaches. So neat! The national parks out west are so pretty!! I also hit up Cairns (The Great Barrier Reef), Melbourne, Tasmania, Sydney… and even ventured to Indonesia, NZ, and Fiji. Beautiful nook of the world, for sure.
Wow that all sounds fantastic! Now I want to go even more. Camping sounds like a great way to experience Rottnest Island. How neat that you got to see so much in that area of the world! Fiji and NZ also rank high on my bucket list
