This past summer I spent quite a few — okay, too many — days working at home on my laptop. Routine can foster a certain level of productivity, but it can also be monotonous to work in the same space day after day. On one particular afternoon I decided on a change of scenery.
I kicked off the afternoon getting some work done at Common Grounds coffee shop in Branford.
When the time came to move my car or risk getting a parking ticket, I took my one-woman blogging / photo editing party down the block to the public library. Great building and interior; I wish I’d taken a photo.
As the afternoon drew to a close I headed to the water at Branford Point.
I got back in my car and drove east along scenic Route 146. I pulled over just past the beaches in front of Green Island and walked back for photos.
I wonder what’s the story behind that house — Google Maps tells me it’s called Green Island, but a cursory search doesn’t provide much more info than the name.
These are all private beaches, which is a bummer. WAY down on the west end of this shore is a rocky area where anyone can sit down, but that’s it. And good luck parking — this neighborhood has done its best to keep out non-residents. It took me awhile to find parking on a non-restrictive side street so I could walk back for photos.
And then onward to Stony Creek — home of Connecticut’s Thimble Islands. I arrived just before sunset and the light was spectacular. I’ll curtail commentary and let the photos speak for themselves.
Gorgeous, right? Thanks for a stellar shoreline walk, Stony Creek!
On the way back home I pulled over on Route 22 in North Branford to grab shot of this sunflower field at sunset.
Lots of natural beauty here in Connecticut. I’m grateful I busted out of routine a few times to explore this summer!
