This past Sunday my good friends Kelley & Irving very kindly invited me to spend Easter with them and their almost-three-year-old daughter on the beach in Malibu. We went to Leo Carillo State Park and it was so lovely! The weather cooperated and what started as a chilly morning in the Valley became a sunny day on the beach.
See that blue beach tent on the sand below? That’s our group.
Thank you Kelley & Irving for inviting me along!
These gummy bunnies from Trader Joe’s were a big hit (with all of us):
I went on a photo walk — these next few shots were taken from the top of the cliff overlooking the series of beaches at Leo Carillo Sate Park.
You can see the PCH winding along the coast below left. This part of Malibu is exceptionally pretty to drive.
That photo above shows one of two long stretches of beach at Leo Carillo — those longer beaches bookend two smaller coves (we’ve set up camp in one of the coves).
This next photo shows the other long stretch of beach at Leo Carillo. We parked in the lot on the right for $12 (enter on the other side of the PCH and follow the road under the highway) but you can park for free along the PCH. Just double-check the parking signs.
This post reminds me that I spent last Easter on the beach, too — camping on the coast near Santa Barbara with my sister at Refugio State Beach. Well, it was more like “glamping”… we brought fresh food from Trader Joe’s for a picnic dinner and then we watched a movie on my laptop in our tent while drinking wine and eating popcorn. If you haven’t seen that post before, it’s a fun one. Makes me want to go camping again!
LOVE, LOVE LOVE!!!!! Great photos! That was such a fun day. So relaxing! You got some amazing shots! We need to be better about getting pictures of you and I together too! And more of you! Spending Easter with you is sort of a tradition now! =)
Yay!! So glad you like them (I put these photos and more on Dropbox). Thank you for including me! It was such a fun way to spend the holiday. And let’s flashback to Easter 2012 (?) and do a baking day soon XOXO!!
