Yesterday I shared photos of a spectacular sunset over the Twelve Apostles, the crown jewel of Great Ocean Road. Today we wake up early to catch the sunrise.
As the Groovy Grape van pulls out of our hostel, we’re greeted with this view. Our guide pulls over so we can snap quick shots before continuing on to the Twelve Apostles.
We arrive at the look-out. Here’s a shot down the beach, facing away from the sunrise:
It’s important to view the Twelve Apostles at various times of day because it looks so different depending on the position of the sun. Last night’s sunset featured sharp, dramatic lighting, while today’s sunrise brings warm light that showcases pastel colors in the rocks.
One more look at the impending sunrise off in the distance:
The clouds grow more intense as the sun comes up.
Myself, Matthias, and Ayumi pose for photos as we wait for the sun to climb higher in the sky and reveal even MORE colors in the rocks.
And here’s a shot of the three of us from Matthias’s camera. Thank you for sharing, Matthias!
That’s it from the Twelve Apostles. Hope you’ve enjoyed this barrage of images from the most iconic stop on the Great Ocean Road.
More from the rest of our trip coming tomorrow!
This post is sponsored by Groovy Grape Getaways, who cater to the adventurous backpacker looking for a fun and informative trip. These photos were taken on the Great Ocean Road & Grampians tour. Opinions, as always, are my own.
You should go into the postcard-making business! (PS. sorry for all the spammy comments. I’m so far behind!)
Thank you!! Those 12 Apostles sunset / sunrise pics are some of my favorite from the whole trip. We were lucky to witness those colors!
And I LOVE (and appreciate) that you took the time to go back, read, and comment on all of these posts!! Thanks for following along! I can’t wait to catch up in person in a few months!!
