We only spend five days in Zambia but each one is extremely memorable. I’ve linked to all of my posts below so you can check out the details more thoroughly if you’re planning your own trip here, or if you missed a post. Highlights include a colorful textile factory, village tour, camping in proximity to wildlife, and several outstanding game drives through South Luangwa National Park. Another week, another country! Our next stop is Zambia, which we kick off by touring a colorful textile factory that employs an impressive group of local artists.
Today we visit a village in Zambia — curious children grab our hands, and we’re treated to a display of traditional music and dance by local villagers.
Our accommodation on the Luangwa River in Zambia ranks among my favorite of the trip — we camp on a prime stretch of river where elephants and hippos roam freely around our tents at night.
I hereby crown South Luangwa National Park my favorite wildlife park in Africa. On our sunrise game drive we encounter a huge variety of animals up close — and we have them all to ourselves because there are hardly any tourists here!
We have so many neat elephant encounters in Zambia that I saved them all for this post. Check out these pachyderm pics!
Nighttime Game Drive: The Hunt for Leopards
It’s my first-ever nighttime game drive — we roam the park with a spotlight, seeking out wildlife. Will we ever spot an illusive leopard?
Just Another Day on the Overland Truck
