Following our morning at Laguna Beach and afternoon in San Juan Capistrano, Jenny and I are on the lookout for a spot to watch sunset. We head to nearby Dana Point.
Unfortunately we end up at the harbor, which doesn’t have great views of the sun since it faces south rather than west. But we’ve still got about 45 minutes before sunset so we walk around a bit.
We spy a paddle boarding class / bootcamp happening nearby — what a pretty spot for it:
Shortly thereafter we ditch the harbor and look for the nearest beach facing west for sunset. We end up at Salt Creek Beach Park, right next to the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel. This place is perfect — Jenny very kindly offers to park the car so I can snap photos since the sun is about ready to dip below the horizon. She joins me for the final seconds of sunset and then we walk down to the beach. I don’t have much to add in the way of commentary from here on out, so I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
That’s the Ritz Carlton on the cliffs below:
What a view, right? This spot reminds me of the Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes. Stunning location.
It’s been a fabulous day. Thank you for the adventure, Jenny!
Erica, the sunset photos are just fabulous. What a wonderful day you had in such beautiful surroundings. Again, thanks for sharing.
Thank you Marie! I couldn’t get over how pretty this setting was — it’s a state beach I had not heard of, but now look forward to returning to!
